History of Amalfi's Pizzeria
Amalfi's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria began in Wilkesboro, NC, in 2002. The owners,
Onofrio (Tony) and Lellena (Sardegna) Catta, are originally from Naples, Italy, and have lived in the
United States since 1996.
Growing up in Naples, Italy, Tony began working in a restaurant at age 13. As an adult, he
graduated from L'Istituto Alberghiero di Sassari culinary school in Sardinia, Italy, before
bringing his family to the United States.
Before he took over Amalfi's, Tony was well known as the chef for Elizabeth Pizza & Italian
Restaurant, in Greensboro, 2002. Today, Tony, Lellena, and their daughter live in Wilkesboro, where
they plan to live for the rest of their lives.
